Gabriel Krisman Bertazi 6028b54388 io_uring/net: don't overconsume buffers when using MSG_TRUNC
When a recv/recvmsg is issued with MSG_TRUNC and the incoming packet is
larger than the provided buffer, the net layer returns the full length
of the packet rather than the number of bytes actually copied into the
buffer.  As a result, io_uring advances more of the provided buffer ring
than was actually filled.  Use the actual filled region size to consume
the buffer, but still return the full size to preserve MSG_TRUNC
semantics.

Take care with multishot, because that seems to already truncate the
consumption based on the available payload size.

Gabriel Krisman Bertazi 5ec4f12a0b io_uring/net: Drop custom iov copy in io_msg_copy_hdr
Similar to commit f4eaf8eda8 ("io_uring/rsrc: Drop io_copy_iov in
favor of iovec API"), avoid the custom copy of a single iovec and just
rely on the iovec api.  This lets the compat and native paths share the
buffer-select length lookup

Pavel Begunkov b539aeacf8 block: rename bi_bvec_done
struct bvec_iter::bi_bvec_done is used an offset in the current bvec,
let's rename it accordingly for better clarity. I also plan to use it
for non-bvec based iteration in the future like dma-buf, so drop the
"bvec" part.

Jens Axboe c77ffbc980 io_uring/net: initialize mshot_len for send
Commit:

6a8afb9fff ("io_uring/net: allow multishot receive per-invocation cap")

changed how io_mshot_prep_retry() set sr->len, and added the same
initialization in io_mshot_prep_retry(). But it neglected to touch the
send path, which may also uses the mshot retry path. Ensure that
sr->mshot_len always gets initialized correctly.

 - Rework the task_work infrastructure.

   Both the local (DEFER_TASKRUN) and the normal (tctx) task_work lists
   were llist based, which is LIFO ordered, and hence each run had to do
   an O(n) list reversal pass first to restore queue order.
   Additionally, to cap the amount of task_work run, each method needed
   a retry list as well.

   Add a lockless MPCS FIFO queue (based on Dmitry Vyukov's intrusive
   MPSC algorithm) and switch both task_work lists to it. It performs
   better than llists and we can then also ditch the retry lists as well
   as entries are popped one-at-the-time.

   On top of those changes, run the tctx fallback task_work directly and
   remove the now-unused per-ctx fallback machinery entirely.

 - zcrx user notifications.

   Add a mechanism for zcrx to communicate conditions back to userspace
   via a dedicated CQE, with the initial users being notification on
   running out of buffers and on a frag copy fallback, plus
   shared-memory notification statistics.

   Alongside that, a series of zcrx reliability and cleanup fixes: more
   reliable scrubbing, poisoning pointers on unregistration, dropping an
   extra ifq close, adding a ctx back-pointer, reordering fd allocation
   in the export path, and killing a dead 'sock' member.

 - Allow using io_uring registered buffers for plain SEND and RECV, not
   just for the zero-copy send path.

   This enables targets like ublk's NBD backend to push/pull IO data
   directly to/from a registered buffer over a plain send/recv on a TCP
   socket.

 - Registered buffer improvements: account huge pages correctly, bump
   the io_mapped_ubuf length field to size_t, and raise the previous 1GB
   registered buffer size limit.

 - Restrict the ctx access exposed to io_uring BPF struct_ops programs
   by handing them an opaque type rather than the full io_ring_ctx, and
   add a separate MAINTAINERS entry for the bpf-ops code.

 - Allow opcode filtering on IORING_OP_CONNECT.

 - Validate ring-provided buffer addresses with access_ok(), and align
   the legacy buffer add limit with MAX_BIDS_PER_BGID.

 - Various other cleanups and minor fixes, including avoiding msghdr
   async data on connect/bind, dropping async_size for OP_LISTEN, making
   the POLL_FIRST receive side checks consistent, re-checking
   IO_WQ_BIT_EXIT for each linked work item, and using
   trace_call__##name() at guarded tracepoint call sites.

Jens Axboe 8569503226 io_uring/net: make POLL_FIRST receive side checks consistent
io_recv() and io_recvzc() are the odd ones out, as they checks for
whether POLL_FIRST should be honored before checking if the file is a
socket. It doesn't really matter, but might as well make it consistent
across all receive and send types.

Ming Lei 57ed21fad4 io_uring/net: support registered buffer for plain send and recv
So far IORING_RECVSEND_FIXED_BUF is only honoured on the SEND_ZC path,
even though the import wiring is already present for plain send and
completely absent for recv. Targets such as ublk's NBD backend want to
push/pull I/O data directly to/from an io_uring registered buffer over a
plain send/recv on a TCP socket.

Wire IORING_RECVSEND_FIXED_BUF into the plain IORING_OP_SEND and
IORING_OP_RECV paths:

 - Accept the flag in SENDMSG_FLAGS / RECVMSG_FLAGS and, at prep time,
   restrict it to the non-vectorized IORING_OP_SEND / IORING_OP_RECV
   opcodes. It is mutually exclusive with buffer select, bundles and
   (for recv) multishot, and records sqe->buf_index.

 - For recv, set REQ_F_IMPORT_BUFFER in setup so the registered buffer
   is imported lazily at issue time, mirroring the send path.

 - In io_send()/io_recv(), import the registered buffer via
   io_import_reg_buf() (ITER_SOURCE for send, ITER_DEST for recv) and
   clear REQ_F_IMPORT_BUFFER. The resulting bvec iter persists in
   async_data, so MSG_WAITALL partial send/recv retries resume at the
   right offset.

Clément Léger ed46f39c47 io_uring/net: inherit IORING_CQE_F_BUF_MORE across bundle recv retries
When a bundle recv retries inside io_recv_finish(), the merge logic OR
the saved cflags from the previous iteration with the cflags returned by
the new iteration:
  cflags = req->cqe.flags | (cflags & CQE_F_MASK);

Bits listed in CQE_F_MASK are inherited from the new iteration, and all
other bits (notably IORING_CQE_F_BUFFER and the buffer ID) come from the
saved cflags. Before this change CQE_F_MASK covered only
IORING_CQE_F_SOCK_NONEMPTY and IORING_CQE_F_MORE.

When using provided buffer rings (IOU_PBUF_RING_INC) with incremental
mode, and bundle recv, io_kbuf_inc_commit() can leave the head ring
entry partially consumed, __io_put_kbufs() then sets
IORING_CQE_F_BUF_MORE on the returned cflags so userspace knows the
buffer ID will be reused for subsequent completions.

Because IORING_CQE_F_BUF_MORE was not in CQE_F_MASK, the merge above
silently dropped it whenever the final retry iteration partially
consumed the buffer, and the subsequent req->cqe.flags = cflags &
~CQE_F_MASK save would have left a stale IORING_CQE_F_BUF_MORE in the
carried-over cflags had one been present. Userspace would then
wrongfully advance it ring head past an entry the kernel still uses.

Add IORING_CQE_F_BUF_MORE to CQE_F_MASK so it is both inherited from the
new iteration into the user-visible CQE and stripped from the saved
cflags between iterations.

Gabriel Krisman Bertazi 3979840cd8 io_uring/net: Avoid msghdr on op_connect/op_bind async data
Both IORING_OP_CONNECT and IORING_OP_BIND reuse the msghdr object just
to store the sockaddr. Beyond allocating a much larger object than
needed, msghdr can also wrap an iovec, which will be recycled
unnecessarily. This uses the sockaddr directly.

Demi Marie Obenour fcc77d33a3 net: Remove support for AIO on sockets
The only user of msg->msg_iocb was AF_ALG, but that's deprecated.
It can be removed entirely at the cost of only supporting synchronous
operations.  This doesn't break userspace, which will silently block
(for a bounded amount of time) in io_submit instead of operating
asynchronously.

This also makes struct msghdr smaller, helping every other caller of
sendmsg().

Jens Axboe ccd25890f7 io_uring/net: punt IORING_OP_BIND async if it needs file create
For two reasons:

1) An opcode cannot block inside io_uring_enter() doing submissions, as
   it'll stall the submission side pipeline.

2) Ending up in sb_start_write() -> __sb_start_write() ->
   percpu_down_read_freezable() introduces a new lockdep edge, which it
   correctly complains about.

Check if the socket type is AF_UNIX and has a non-empty pathname. If it
does, mark it REQ_F_FORCE_ASYNC to punt the submission to io-wq rather
than attempt to do it inline.

Shouvik Kar 899bea8248 io_uring/net: allow filtering on IORING_OP_CONNECT
This adds custom filtering for IORING_OP_CONNECT, where the target
family is always exposed, and (for AF_INET / AF_INET6) port and
address are exposed. port and v4_addr are in network byte order so
filter authors can compare against on-wire constants.

Skip population unless addr_len covers the populated fields, to
avoid leaking stale io_async_msghdr data on short connects.

Junxi Qian b948f9d5d3 io_uring/net: fix slab-out-of-bounds read in io_bundle_nbufs()
sqe->len is __u32 but gets stored into sr->len which is int. When
userspace passes sqe->len values exceeding INT_MAX (e.g. 0xFFFFFFFF),
sr->len overflows to a negative value. This negative value propagates
through the bundle recv/send path:

  1. io_recv(): sel.val = sr->len (ssize_t gets -1)
  2. io_recv_buf_select(): arg.max_len = sel->val (size_t gets
     0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF)
  3. io_ring_buffers_peek(): buf->len is not clamped because max_len
     is astronomically large
  4. iov[].iov_len = 0xFFFFFFFF flows into io_bundle_nbufs()
  5. io_bundle_nbufs(): min_t(int, 0xFFFFFFFF, ret) yields -1,
     causing ret to increase instead of decrease, creating an
     infinite loop that reads past the allocated iov[] array

This results in a slab-out-of-bounds read in io_bundle_nbufs() from
the kmalloc-64 slab, as nbufs increments past the allocated iovec
entries.

Pavel Begunkov cb94873336 io_uring/zctx: separate notification user_data
People previously asked for the notification CQE to have a different
user_data value from the main request completion. It's useful to
separate buffer and request handling logic and avoid separately
refcounting the request.

Let the user pass the notification user_data in sqe->addr3. If zero,
it'll inherit sqe->user_data as before. It doesn't change the rules for
when the user can expect a notification CQE, and it should still check
the IORING_CQE_F_MORE flag.

 "This adds support for both cBPF filters for io_uring, as well as task
  inherited restrictions and filters.

  seccomp and io_uring don't play along nicely, as most of the
  interesting data to filter on resides somewhat out-of-band, in the
  submission queue ring.

  As a result, things like containers and systemd that apply seccomp
  filters, can't filter io_uring operations.

  That leaves them with just one choice if filtering is critical -
  filter the actual io_uring_setup(2) system call to simply disallow
  io_uring. That's rather unfortunate, and has limited us because of it.

  io_uring already has some filtering support. It requires the ring to
  be setup in a disabled state, and then a filter set can be applied.
  This filter set is completely bi-modal - an opcode is either enabled
  or it's not. Once a filter set is registered, the ring can be enabled.
  This is very restrictive, and it's not useful at all to systemd or
  containers which really want both broader and more specific control.

  This first adds support for cBPF filters for opcodes, which enables
  tighter control over what exactly a specific opcode may do. As
  examples, specific support is added for IORING_OP_OPENAT/OPENAT2,
  allowing filtering on resolve flags. And another example is added for
  IORING_OP_SOCKET, allowing filtering on domain/type/protocol. These
  are both common use cases. cBPF was chosen rather than eBPF, because
  the latter is often restricted in containers as well.

  These filters are run post the init phase of the request, which allows
  filters to even dip into data that is being passed in struct in user
  memory, as the init side of requests make that data stable by bringing
  it into the kernel. This allows filtering without needing to copy this
  data twice, or have filters etc know about the exact layout of the
  user data. The filters get the already copied and sanitized data
  passed.

  On top of that support is added for per-task filters, meaning that any
  ring created with a task that has a per-task filter will get those
  filters applied when it's created. These filters are inherited across
  fork as well. Once a filter has been registered, any further added
  filters may only further restrict what operations are permitted.

  Filters cannot change the return value of an operation, they can only
  permit or deny it based on the contents"

Jens Axboe 806ae939c4 io_uring/net: don't continue send bundle if poll was required for retry
If a send bundle has picked a bunch of buffers, then it needs to send
all of those to be complete. This may require poll arming, if the send
buffer ends up being full. Once a send bundle has been poll armed, no
further bundles should be attempted.

This allows a current bundle to complete even though it needs to go
through polling to do so, but it will not allow another bundle to be
started once that has happened. Ideally we would abort a bundle if it
was only partially sent, but as some parts of it already went out on the
wire, this obviously isn't feasible. Not continuing more bundle attempts
post encountering a full socket buffer is the second best thing.

Jens Axboe f6041803a8 io_uring/net: ensure vectored buffer node import is tied to notification
When support for vectored registered buffers was added, the import
itself is using 'req' rather than the notification io_kiocb, sr->notif.
For non-vectored imports, sr->notif is correctly used. This is important
as the lifetime of the two may be different. Use the correct io_kiocb
for the vectored buffer import.

Pavel Begunkov 1b8b5d0316 io_uring/zcrx: elide passing msg flags
zcrx sqe->msg_flags has never been defined and checked to be zero. It
doesn't need to be a MSG_* bitmask. Keep them undefined, don't mix
with MSG_DONTWAIT, and don't pass into io_zcrx_recv() as it's ignored
anyway.

Jens Axboe 4c0b26e23c io_uring: add async data clear/free helpers
Futex recently had an issue where it mishandled how ->async_data and
REQ_F_ASYNC_DATA is handled. To avoid future issues like that, add a set
of helpers that either clear or clear-and-free the async data assigned
to a struct io_kiocb.

Convert existing manual handling of that to use the helpers. No intended
functional changes in this patch.

Jens Axboe 5fda512554 io_uring/kbuf: switch to storing struct io_buffer_list locally
Currently the buffer list is stored in struct io_kiocb. The buffer list
can be of two types:

1) Classic/legacy buffer list. These don't need to get referenced after
   a buffer pick, and hence storing them in struct io_kiocb is perfectly
   fine.

2) Ring provided buffer lists. These DO need to be referenced after the
   initial buffer pick, as they need to get consumed later on. This can
   be either just incrementing the head of the ring, or it can be
   consuming parts of a buffer if incremental buffer consumptions has
   been configured.

For case 2, io_uring needs to be careful not to access the buffer list
after the initial pick-and-execute context. The core does recycling of
these, but it's easy to make a mistake, because it's stored in the
io_kiocb which does persist across multiple execution contexts. Either
because it's a multishot request, or simply because it needed some kind
of async trigger (eg poll) for retry purposes.

Add a struct io_buffer_list to struct io_br_sel, which is always on
stack for the various users of it. This prevents the buffer list from
leaking outside of that execution context, and additionally it enables
kbuf to not even pass back the struct io_buffer_list if the given
context isn't appropriately locked already.

This doesn't fix any bugs, it's simply a defensive measure to prevent
any issues with reuse of a buffer list.

A previous commit used io_net_kbuf_recyle() for any network helper that
did IO and needed partial retry. However, that's only needed if the
opcode does buffer selection, which isnt support for sendzc, sendmsg_zc,
or sendmsg. Just remove them - they don't do any harm, but it is a bit
confusing when reading the code.

the operation, so there's no need to pass in the issue_flags to
io_put_kbufs(). On the single buffer side, if the initial picking of a
ring buffer was unlocked, then it will have been committed already. For
legacy buffers, no locking is required, as they will simply be freed.

Jens Axboe 41b70df5b3 io_uring/net: commit partial buffers on retry
Ring provided buffers are potentially only valid within the single
execution context in which they were acquired. io_uring deals with this
and invalidates them on retry. But on the networking side, if
MSG_WAITALL is set, or if the socket is of the streaming type and too
little was processed, then it will hang on to the buffer rather than
recycle or commit it. This is problematic for two reasons:

1) If someone unregisters the provided buffer ring before a later retry,
   then the req->buf_list will no longer be valid.

2) If multiple sockers are using the same buffer group, then multiple
   receives can consume the same memory. This can cause data corruption
   in the application, as either receive could land in the same
   userspace buffer.

Fix this by disallowing partial retries from pinning a provided buffer
across multiple executions, if ring provided buffers are used.

Norman Maurer 6f02527729 io_uring/net: Allow to do vectorized send
At the moment you have to use sendmsg for vectorized send.
While this works it's suboptimal as it also means you need to
allocate a struct msghdr that needs to be kept alive until a
submission happens. We can remove this limitation by just
allowing to use send directly.

 - Optimization to avoid reference counts on non-cloned registered
   buffers. This is how these buffers were handled prior to having
   cloning support, and we can still use that approach as long as the
   buffers haven't been cloned to another ring.

 - Cleanup and improvement for uring_cmd, where btrfs was the only user
   of storing allocated data for the lifetime of the uring_cmd. Clean
   that up so we can get rid of the need to do that.

 - Avoid unnecessary memory copies in uring_cmd usage. This is
   particularly important as a lot of uring_cmd usage necessitates the
   use of 128b SQEs.

 - A few updates for recv multishot, where it's now possible to add
   fairness limits for limiting how much is transferred for each retry
   loop. Additionally, recv multishot now supports an overall cap as
   well, where once reached the multishot recv will terminate. The
   latter is useful for buffer management and juggling many recv streams
   at the same time.

 - Add support for returning the TX timestamps via a new socket command.
   This feature can work in either singleshot or multishot mode, where
   the latter triggers a completion whenever new timestamps are
   available. This is an alternative to using the existing error queue.

 - Add support for an io_uring "mock" file, which is the start of being
   able to do 100% targeted testing in terms of exercising io_uring
   request handling. The idea is to have a file type that can be
   anything the tester would like, and behave exactly how you want it to
   behave in terms of hitting the code paths you want.

 - Improve zcrx by using sgtables to de-duplicate and improve dma
   address handling.

 - Prep work for supporting larger pages for zcrx.

 - Various little improvements and fixes.

Pavel Begunkov c7cafd5b81 io_uring/poll: fix POLLERR handling
8c8492ca64 ("io_uring/net: don't retry connect operation on EPOLLERR")
is a little dirty hack that
1) wrongfully assumes that POLLERR equals to a failed request, which
breaks all POLLERR users, e.g. all error queue recv interfaces.
2) deviates the connection request behaviour from connect(2), and
3) racy and solved at a wrong level.

Nothing can be done with 2) now, and 3) is beyond the scope of the
patch. At least solve 1) by moving the hack out of generic poll handling
into io_connect().
