Thomas Huth 2464ac8a6f kselftest/riscv: Replace __ASSEMBLY__ with __ASSEMBLER__
While the GCC and Clang compilers already define __ASSEMBLER__
automatically when compiling assembly code, __ASSEMBLY__ is a
macro that only gets defined by the Makefiles in the kernel.
This can be very confusing when switching between userspace
and kernelspace coding, or when dealing with uapi headers that
rather should use __ASSEMBLER__ instead. So let's standardize now
on the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by the compilers.

Thomas Huth 111a2b8717 smb: client: Avoid leaking sensitive data to the heap in connect.c
TCP_Server_Info contains a preauth_sha_hash[] and a cryptkey[] array
that might contain sensitive data. Thus free its memory with
kfree_sensitive() to avoid that we are leaking this information to
the heap.

Make sure to not leak signature data via the stack, clear it
with memzero_explicit() before leaving the function.

To avoid that we have to introduce "goto"-cleanup here, we re-arrange
the code a little bit (and drop the commented cifs_dump_mem debug
code that looks like a leftover from very early days).

Sensitive data like keys that are stored in stack-local arrays could
be leaked via the stack to the calling functions. There is no known
vulnerability for this right now, but it's good security style to
explicitly zeroize this sensitive material as soon as possible to
avoid that it could be exploited together with other bugs later.

The DES encryption in the smb server code has been removed in 2021
with the removal of the insecure NTLMv1 authentication code. Thus

struct ksmbd_conn contains an embedded struct ntlmssp_auth with the
ciphertext[] and cryptkey[] arrays, so to avoid leaking this information
via the heap, it should be freed with kfree_sensitive().

While we're at it, also use kfree_sensitive() for freeing preauth_info
in ksmbd_conn_free() to avoid that the Preauth_HashValue[] could leak
via the heap here, too.

Thomas Huth 9a9f1342da smb: server: Clear sensitive stack and heap data in auth.c
Sensitive data like keys that are stored in stack-local arrays could be
leaked via the stack to the calling functions, or via the heap when using
only normal kfree() functions. There is no known vulnaribility for this
right now, but it's good security style to explicitly zeroize this
sensitive matieral as soon as possible to avoid that it could be exploited
together with other bugs later.

In calc_ntlmv2_hash(), the struct hmac_md5_ctx is normally cleared during
hmac_md5_final() already, but in case of errors, this function is skipped
and ctx is never zeroized, so add a memzero_explicit(&ctx, sizeof(ctx))
there to fix the problem.

In ksmbd_krb5_authenticate(), the ksmbd_spnego_authen_response contains
the session key in the payload. It's currently freed with plain kvfree().
Let's better use kvfree_sensitive() instead.

In generate_key(), the prfhash[] array is used to calculate the key,
but it's never cleared, so it leaks on the stack. Thus clear this with
a memzero_explicit(), too.

In ksmbd_crypt_message(), the sign[] and key[] arrays are leaked via
the stack, too. Make sure to clear them via memzero_explicit() at the
end.

Thomas Huth adbc4db2c0 lib/crypto: aes-cmac: Add zeroization functions
Code that uses AES-CMAC might need to zeroize their local aes_cmac_key
and/or aes_cmac_ctx structures after use to avoid leaking sensitive
material on the stack.

Provide an aes_cmac_zeroize_key() and an aes_cmac_zeroize_ctx() helper
function that can be used with __cleanup() to automatically clear the
key and context when they go out of scope.

Thomas Huth 600f5de277 scripts: headers_install.sh: Normalize __ASSEMBLY__ to __ASSEMBLER__
A previous patch to headers_install.sh normalized the usage of
__ASSEMBLER__ to __ASSEMBLY__ in the UAPI headers due to two reasons:

1) There was the concern that the UAPI headers might be used with
non-GCC-compatible compilers, which do not define __ASSEMBLER__
automatically.

But other C compilers like PCC (see
https://github.com/IanHarvey/pcc/blob/cvs2git/2018.09.20/cc/cc/cc.1#L405)
and Tiny-C (see https://repo.or.cz/tinycc.git/commitdiff/a25325e9be13e52a),
are defining __ASSEMBLER__ for compiling assembler files, too, so using
it in UAPI header files should really be fine.

2) During the migration phase, the UAPI headers will use a mix of *both*
__ASSEMBLY__ and __ASSEMBLER__ at the same time, which is ugly and
inconsistent.

That's true. But since we already shipped a couple of kernel versions
that used __ASSEMBLER__ in the UAPI headers for certain architectures,
we might now break user space programs that have been developed with
these kernel versions if we switch back to __ASSEMBLY__.

Thus let's better always use the macro that is defined by the compilers
and standardize on __ASSEMBLER__ instead of __ASSEMBLY__ in all of the
UAPI header files now.

Thomas Huth 5ab1dc6d11 selftests/landlock: Skip scoped_signal subtest with MSG_OOB if not available
MSG_OOB might be disabled in the kernel for unix sockets (by not
selecting CONFIG_AF_UNIX_OOB), and in this case the related tests
of the scoped_signal_test are currently failing.  Add a runtime
probe using socketpair() to detect MSG_OOB support and skip the
test gracefully if it is unavailable.

Thomas Huth d793186aa3 selftests/landlock: Fix screwed up pointers in the scoped_signal_test
The scoped_signal_test uses pthread_join(..., (void **)&ret)) in
a couple of places, i.e. the return value of the thread is stored
in the shape of a "void *" into the memory location of &ret.
Pointers are 64-bit on modern computers, but the ret variable is
declared as a simple "enum thread_return" which is only 32 bits.
So the pthread_join() will overflow the ret variable by 4 byte.

The problem is very visible on big endian systems like s390x
where the test is failing: The least significant byte that carries
the return code of the thread is not written into the ret variable
here, but somewhere else in the stack frame, so the comparison
for the right return code is failing here.

Fix it by getting rid of the enum and defining the THREAD_* constants
and "ret" variables as proper "void *" pointers. This way we can
also get rid of some ugly (void *) castings in a couple of spots.

Thomas Huth c8e412f79d x86/ras: Move contents from arch/x86/ras/Kconfig into drivers/ras/Kconfig
Commit

  bc8e80d56c ("x86/mce: Merge mce_amd_inj into mce-inject")

removed the last .c file from arch/x86/ras/, so that there is now only
a lonely Kconfig file in this folder. Its config switches CONFIG_RAS_CEC and
CONFIG_RAS_CEC_DEBUG are only used in code that resides in drivers/ras/, so
those Kconfig switches should better reside in drivers/ras/, too. Thus move
the contents of arch/x86/ras/ into drivers/ras/Kconfig now.

If kzalloc fails, the function returns -ENOMEM without calling
efivar_unlock(). Since open() returned  an error, the calling site
in pstore_get_backend_records() won't call the close() function, so

Thomas Huth 48a4282157 efi/capsule-loader: fix incorrect sizeof in phys array reallocation
The krealloc() call for cap_info->phys in __efi_capsule_setup_info() uses
sizeof(phys_addr_t *) instead of sizeof(phys_addr_t), which might be
causing an undersized allocation.

The allocation is also inconsistent with the initial array allocation in
efi_capsule_open() that allocates one entry with sizeof(phys_addr_t),
and the efi_capsule_write() function that stores phys_addr_t values (not
pointers) via page_to_phys().

On 64-bit systems where sizeof(phys_addr_t) == sizeof(phys_addr_t *), this
goes unnoticed. On 32-bit systems with PAE where phys_addr_t is 64-bit but
pointers are 32-bit, this allocates half the required space, which might
lead to a heap buffer overflow when storing physical addresses.

This is similar to the bug fixed in commit fccfa646ef ("efi/capsule-loader:
fix incorrect allocation size") which fixed the same issue at the initial
allocation site.

Thomas Huth 89373f5695 LICENSES: Add modern form of the LGPL-2.1 tags to the usage guide section
The modern forms of the LGPL-2.1 tags have already been added as valid
a long time ago, see commit bc12834958 ("LICENSES/LGPL-2.1: Add
LGPL-2.1-or-later as valid identifiers"). However, the information is
still missing in the "Usage-Guide" section, so it can currently be
confusing whether these tags are allowed in new files or not. Thus
add the tags to the usage guide section, too, to make this clear
(similar to what we do in the GPL-2.0 file already).

Thomas Huth dc356bf3c1 sparc: Drop the "-ansi" from the asflags
In the very early kernel 1.x days, assembler files were pre-processed
with the "-traditional" flag. With kernel 1.1.85, the sparc subsystem
was changed to use "-ansi" instead while the other parts of the kernel
continued to use "-traditional". That "-traditional" got removed from
the other architectures in the course of time, but the sparc part
kept the "-ansi" until today.

This is bad since it comes with some disadvantages nowadays: You have
to make sure to not include any header that contains a "//" C++ comment
by accident (there are now some in the tree that use these for SPDX
identifiers for example), and with "-ansi" we also do not get the
pre-defined __ASSEMBLER__ macro which we'd like to use instead of the
kernel-only __ASSEMBLY__ macro in the future.

Since there does not seem to be any compelling reason anymore to use
"-ansi" nowadays, let's simply drop the "-ansi" flag from the sparc
subsystem now to get rid of those disadvantages.

The "FAULT_FLAG_ALLOW_RETRY missing" indicates that handle_userfaultfd()
saw a page fault request without ALLOW_RETRY flag set, hence userfaultfd
cannot remotely resolve it (because the caller was asking for an immediate
resolution, aka, FAULT_FLAG_NOWAIT, while remote faults can take time).
With that, get_map_page() failed and the irq was lost.

We should not be strictly in an atomic environment here and the worker
should be sleepable (the call is done during an ioctl from userspace),
so we can allow adapter_indicators_set() to just sleep waiting for the
remote fault instead.

Thomas Huth f676280329 media: pci/ivtv: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate text with SPDX
The FSF does not reside in 59 Temple Place anymore, so we should
not ask the people to write to that address in case they need a
copy of the GPL.

Anyway, all other files in this directory already had their boilerplate
text replaced by a proper SPDX tag in the earlier commit 1a59d1b8e0
("treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 156"),
so let's do the same in the remaining files now, too.

Thomas Huth 740b8dad05 drm/fbdev-generic: Fix framebuffer on big endian devices
Starting with kernel 6.7, the framebuffer text console is not working
anymore with the virtio-gpu device on s390x hosts. Such big endian fb
devices are usinga different pixel ordering than little endian devices,
e.g. DRM_FORMAT_BGRX8888 instead of DRM_FORMAT_XRGB8888.

This used to work fine as long as drm_client_buffer_addfb() was still
calling drm_mode_addfb() which called drm_driver_legacy_fb_format()
internally to get the right format. But drm_client_buffer_addfb() has
recently been reworked to call drm_mode_addfb2() instead with the
format value that has been passed to it as a parameter (see commit
6ae2ff23aa ("drm/client: Convert drm_client_buffer_addfb() to drm_mode_addfb2()").

That format parameter is determined in drm_fbdev_generic_helper_fb_probe()
via the drm_mode_legacy_fb_format() function - which only generates
formats suitable for little endian devices. So to fix this issue
switch to drm_driver_legacy_fb_format() here instead to take the
device endianness into consideration.

Thomas Huth 166d6019f9 Documentation: Remove the unused "tp720" from kernel-parameters.txt
The "tp720" switch once belonged to the ps2esdi driver, but this
driver has been removed a long time ago in 2008 in the commit
2af3e6017e ("The ps2esdi driver was marked as BROKEN more than two years ago due to being no longer working for some time.")

Thomas Huth 2626f066f8 Documentation: Remove "ltpc=" from the kernel-parameters.txt
The string "ltpc" cannot be found in the source code anymore. This
kernel parameter likely belonged to the LocalTalk PC card module
which has been removed in commit 03dcb90dbf ("net: appletalk:
remove Apple/Farallon LocalTalk PC support"), so we should remove
it from kernel-parameters.txt now, too.

Thomas Huth 980fffff14 s390/fpu: Remove comment about TIF_FPU
It has been removed in commit 2c6b96762f ("s390/fpu: remove TIF_FPU"),
so we should not mention TIF_FPU in the comment here anymore. Since the
remaining parts of the comment just document the obvious fact that
save_user_fpu_regs() saves the FPU state, simply remove the comment now
completely.
